The San Francisco 49ers officially named Mike Singletary the head coach after the 27-24 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Singletary had went 5-4 as interim head coach after Mike Nolan was fired earlier in the year.

The contract is for four year and will be paying Singletary around $2.5 million per year. He also has the rights to hire and fire any coaches that he wishes to do so. It is uncertain at this time if Mike Martz will be brought back but if I had to guess, I would say Martz is out.

The players are very happy for Singletary as they know he is a straight shooter and gets the best out of them. They like his attitude and everything he brings to the table. Even though the season is over and the team had a losing record, the team has their heads up high as they look forward to the 2009 season with Coach Singletary at the helm.
