Something sure doesn’t sound right here. I know Vick messed up big time with the whole dog fighting incident, but he has served his time and I expect him to be on a NFL roster. Why not the 49ers? This team could use a a little boost on the offensive side of the ball.

]]>“Joe Staley is the type of player we want to continue to add to this football team,” 49ers general manager Scot McCloughan said. “He’s a tough, versatile, no-nonsense type of guy who wants to do whatever it takes to help his team win football games”.
“Joe is a consummate team player and has been completely unselfish in the way he has approached his role on this team. We know what he means to the success of the 49ers and getting this extension done puts us in a very nice position for the future.”
The six year extension contract calls for $42 million in new money and $18 million being guaranteed. Looks like we can expect Staley to be the big man on the 0-line for years to come!

]]>I’ve heard rumors that Bly could possibly meet with the team on Thursday. Bly wouldn’t be a bad option at this point. The team will need to get a veteran in there to fill in for Harris in my opinion as they are already pretty young in the secondary.
Your thoughts?

Mel Kiper = Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
Could Josh Freeman drop enough to the #10 spot for the 49ers to grab him? That is one questions that is going around on the blogs right now. I don’t want Freeman that is one thing I will make clear. He hasn’t shown me the accuracy and composure that I want at the quarterback position.
So who do you think the 49ers will take with their first round pick on Saturday?

]]>This is good news for the 49ers as they sure could use Bruce at one of th wideout positions. Bruce led San Francisco with 61 catches for 835 yards and seven touchdowns last season, his first with the 49ers after 14 seasons with the Rams.
Despite some fans thinkings out there, I wouldn’t expect Bruce to be catching balls from Jay Cutler. The Broncos want two first round picks and not a quarterback in return. I just don’t see the 49ers management getting in on the talks for Cutler.

]]>Smith will battle with Shaun Hill in training camp for the starting job once again. Smith had been the starter but struggled and also had shoulder injuries the past couple of years that really hurt his development. He is still trying to live up to the #1 pick that the 49ers used on him back in the 2005 draft. In that draft, the 49ers selected Hill over the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Braylon Edwards, DeMarcus Ware and Shawne Merriman.
It will be interesting to see what the 49ers do at the quarterback position. Do they draft another young qb or hope that Hill and Smith can hold down the position and learn from their past mistakes?

]]>I know a lot of 49ers fans are not happy with this hire and they are even starting to already second guess the hiring of Coach Singletary. One reason fans do not want this hire is because Raye as an offensive coordinator in the NFL has an average record of 6 wins and 10 losses while only scoring just under 19 points a game.
Personally I would have liked to see a younger coordinator brought in. Raye just does not have the track record in the league as a coordinator to make us fans go “Wow, what a great hire!” Time will tell I suppose.

]]>Coach Singletary isn’t wasting any time to use his authority to fire and hire coaches. Look for the next hire to be an offensive coordinator which needs to be brought in soon.
