The San Francisco 49ers played spoiler to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon as they surprised everyone with a 10-3 victory. The 49ers used a very stingy defense and just enough offense to beat the Bills who were hoping to stay in contention for a playoff spot in the AFC.

Patrick Willis was the man for the 49ers on defense as he recorded a game high 14 tackles and also forced a fumble. Willis has really stepped up his game, it’s too bad the 49ers didn’t have the same play making abilities at other positions to really help out the team.

The only scoring the 49ers offense could muster up was a 12 yard touchdown reception from Shaun Hill to Isaac Bruce. Bruce caught five balls on the day for 67 yards and the one touchdown. Hill tossed for only 161 yards on 14 of 23 passing. The other three points came via a Joe Nedney 50 yard field goal just before half time.

Frank Gore was the teams leading rusher with 66 yards on 24 carries. He had a long of 12 yards but simply just didn’t run the ball with authority in the game. The Bills defense stepped up and really shut down the 49ers running game.

I’ll take the win no matter how bad it was. A win is a win and the 49ers need all of them that they can get at this point in the season.
